Sports Broadcasting: Canadian Elite Basketball League
Basketball broadcast with Cuez
Managing live sports production for a national league is always a challenge. And the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) knows it all too well. Before adopting Cuez, their production process was a labyrinth of Google Sheets, endless asset checks and frustrating inefficiencies. But those days are over now. Meet James Tan the Production Manager, and Zack Szweras, a broadcast production intern at the CEBL, as they share their experiences switching their production workflows to Cuez.
“The work process before we used Cuez was strictly based off of Google Sheets. We would take all the individual assets from each team… and it was just a constant triple-checking and double-checking and quadruple-checking on what assets were missing, what assets were there, and then copy and pasting from one to another.”

From Chaos to Coordination
This tedious process wasn’t just time-consuming. It created unnecessary room for error. The team knew they needed a solution. A solution that would make the whole production smoother.
When the CEBL discovered Cuez, they immediately saw its potential to transform their operations.
— “Cuez simplifies our production process by making it easier to distribute the content with it being directly linked to the script,” said Zack.
With Cuez, they could instantly update scripts across all production teams, ensuring everyone was always working with the latest content.
Key features that made the difference
— “Should we decide that we want a league video to be changed in all of our scripts, we would then upload it to all of the different scripts for all the different production partners from across the league, and it would be readily available for them as soon as it was ready,” Zack explained.
That meant — no more messy email chains or broken Dropbox links. Every asset was in one place, easily accessible by every team member.
One standout feature for the CEBL was Cuez’s ability to link files directly within scripts. This not only simplified asset management but also improved collaboration across teams.
“The most unique and useful feature we used in Cuez was definitely the linking of files and just the simplification of getting all of our production partners on the same page and leaving room for them to work on their own.”

Optimized sports production
A major win for CEBL was the ease of organizing commercial breaks and integrating video content directly into the scripts. For sports productions in particular, having everything in one place, i.e. commercials, videos, and rundowns, eliminated the need for separate Dropbox links or scattered documents, streamlining the entire workflow.
When it comes to complex live productions, adequate customer support is crucial. The team must be ready to resolve any issue, even minutes before going live. The CEBL team pointed out Cuez’s support team’s accessibility and the simplicity of the whole setup process.
— “The setup process was super easy for Cuez. The support staff is super accessible and very open to troubleshooting different problems that we have,” said Zack.
The future of sports broadcasting
For the CEBL, Cuez has proven to be more than just a tool — it’s a transformative partner in their production process. With everything organized in one place, from scripts to assets, the league is now better equipped to deliver high-quality broadcasts to fans.
For sports leagues looking to level up their production game, Cuez might just be the game-changer you need.
