How did it all start?
TinkerList was born out of a very real, very relatable problem: creative chaos.
Our founder Erik Hauters used to work as a TV director at Belgian production giant Woestijnvis. With more than 150 people on staff, the setup was every director’s dream. Everything ran smoothly and was seamlessly connected. And yes — the coffee machine was constantly stocked with fresh beans. It was an environment built for focus and creativity, not logistics. But things changed when Erik went freelance.
Suddenly, he found himself directing for broadcasters across Belgium and the Netherlands — without the infrastructure he was used to. With no IT support and no proper tools, Erik realized something had to change.
So he built it.
That’s how TinkerList (aka Cuez) was founded, first as a scripting tool for TV and radio, then evolving rapidly into a full-fledged content workflow platform. As a team of creative minds and problem-solvers, we quickly saw the potential: media production was filled with outdated habits and disconnected tools. Meanwhile, other industries were already embracing cloud-based collaboration, automation, and agile systems.
Why not television?
TinkerList grew around that question. We brought in a team of international talent, each adding their perspective. But that experimentation paid off. Today, we help broadcasters and producers ditch the clutter and chaos by giving them a single place to create, collaborate and control their productions.
Disrupting workflows isn’t always easy. It takes persistence. It takes people who aren’t afraid to challenge the way things have always been done.
And it all started with one simple question: why isn’t there a better way to do this?
