OBS

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a no-cost, open-source application designed for video recording and live streaming purposes. With its flexible, open canvas approach to video creation, this software enables users to mix diverse audio and video sources into a unified output, catering to a wide range of creative video and broadcasting needs.

Cuez integrates with OBS by letting you add OBS as a “device” in the Automator, using WebSocket settings (hostname, port, password) to connect. Once configured, Cuez can send media (videos, graphics) to OBS by controlling the media download, browser sources, and trigger functions from your rundown.

About OBS

OBS began in 2012 as a small open-source project by Hugh “Jim” Bailey, originally focused on simple screen recording and streaming. In 2013, it was rewritten as OBS Multiplatform (later OBS Studio), expanding to Windows, macOS, and Linux with more powerful features. By 2016, OBS Studio fully replaced the original OBS Classic and has since grown into one of the most widely used free, open-source tools for live streaming, recording, and broadcasting, supported by a global community of contributors.
